It's that time of year again.

The time when it starts to get hot and the boys begin to wonder, "Is this long hair worth it?"

Photobomb!

And Cid had had enough!

He grumbled as he swiped his bangs out of his face and I knew. He was so ready to part ways with his long strands. He told me he wanted it short.

Until I started cutting that is.

Just a few very choppy chops in and he declared, "That's enough haircut!"

Sorry buddy....there's still like another full hour of work to be done here.  Hunker down!

With the help of some kids apps on my phone, we got back to it.

A long time, and a lot of itchies later....

We have a hairdo!

And a very grumpy boy.

After a quick shower, I lifted Cid up to see himself in the mirror.  I wish I could have captured his face. He did his very best to hold back a massive smile, and suddenly all the struggle was worth it. My little guy is super proud of his do.  Proud enough to sport his Captain America all over SE Portland.

And that makes me happy.

Not hot enough for Rowan yet

Remember those baby chicks we got a while back?
They are definitely not little chicks anymore.  And it was time to move them into the deluxe, Pinterest-worthy chicken coop that André built.

We were told that it's best to move chickens to a new coop at night.  Apparently they are supposed to take better to their new surroundings that way.  I don't know if this method is truly effective, but for some strange reason we thought it would be super fun to wake the boys up in the wee hours of the night to transport the girls to their new chicken mansion.

So that's what we did.

One by one, the chickens were carried from old coop to new under the cover of darkness.

Until all of the ladies were comfortably roosted in their new home.

And then we put the kiddos back to bed.

Our little Vada Claire finally made her grand entrance!

And she's perfect in every way.

She's also a very good eater, lol - She's gained a pound in her first two weeks!

The boys are absolutely in love with her (as are Rogér and I).  Rowan says he loves Vada even more than he loves me.  And Cid told me I'm not special anymore, since I'm not the only girl.  Well, I am perfectly OK with that!

Every 5 minutes or so, I hear a "I want to kiss Sissy" from one of them and they both are able to comfort her by singing. Cid has an especially awesome high-pitched, monotone singing voice that Vada happens to find very soothing.

Grandpa Dan and Uncle James are getting their snuggles too.

And in between all the love, I'm trying to adjust to the lack of sleep.
It's not any easier the third time around!
